GUTS CHARITY TOURNAMENT

Saturday 24th April 2004

A fabulous day! The Sun shone, 30 players participated (age range 6-70!) and we raised £635 for GUTS.

Sarah Hamilton and Khosrow Sefati won with Phim Elsing and Ken Smith in hot pursuit!

We were really delighted that Phil Bates, a trustee of GUTS, and Jenny Stanwell, their fund-raiser, came to present the cups and draw the raffle. Sue Doughty, MP for Guildford, presented the junior medals and gave an encouraging speech in support of GUTS’ aims to provide a screening programme for the early detection of large bowel cancer through local GP surgeries.

Sue Langridge cooked us a splendid lunch, sponsored by Grayshott Pottery, which we had by the courts.

Mary is going to suggest to the GUTS Committee that the money is used to pay for 500 test kits, used in the screening programme, with each having a sticky label to say it has been donated by WTC.
