GUTS CHARITY TOURNAMENT

Sunday 20th September 2009

The 2009 GUTS tournament raised nearly £4000!

Our annual charity tournament in aid of the Guildford Undetected Tumours Screening project was once again very well supported.  Professor Chris Marks, the founder and chairman of GUTS, participated, as did the current team of colorectal surgeons from the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Professor Tim Rockall and Iain Jourdan, and their wives.

Veteran players Richard Harrington - a local hairdresser and loyal supporter of GUTS - and Chris Marks were winner and runner-up (respectively) of the 'large bowels', while Lesley Scordellis and Andy Kisiel were winners of the 'small bowels'!  This year's SITA cup for the most improved player from Lockwood Day Centre went to Nathan Risbridger.  Prizes were presented by Guildford's MP, Anne Milton, on her fourth visit to the Club.

We raised over £2000 on the day, and with sponsorship the total will be nearly £4000.  Raising money for the important equipment and work of a local hospital charity while enjoying amazing Thai food, a BBQ, Pimms, good tennis and a friendly ambience was a perfect way to spend a sunny Sunday in the rural setting of our special village club in Worplesdon.
