WELCOME TO WORPLESDON TENNIS CLUB!

We are a friendly village tennis club based in Worplesdon, just north of Guildford in Surrey.

We play on four courts at the far end of Worplesdon Memorial Hall playing fields, where we have a small club house and also share a new pavilion with the local football and cricket clubs. All four courts are equipped with floodlights.

To see exactly where we are, click here for a map - our courts are marked by the red circle. Postcode for satnav users is GU3 3RF.

We are now implementing our second ambitious 5-Year Development Plan.  Over the last few years, the generosity of a number of grant-awarding organisations and the fund-raising efforts of members have resulted in a major expansion of the facilities available to the Club.

New members, of all ages and standards, are always welcome. We have no 'playing in' policy as we aim to provide a village amenity. See our contacts page for how to get in touch with our Secretary.

The Club organises all sorts of social and other events to have fun and raise money to improve our facilities and help local charities.  See our scrapbook to find out what we have been getting up to recently!

Opportunities are available throughout the year for competitive tennis, as we play in the Aldershot and District League.

Regular coaching is available with Tim Seymour, our LTA-registered coach.

We now have a well-established programme for juniors, underpinned by a comprehensive Charter for Junior Players.

The Club is affiliated to The Lawn Tennis Association. This means that our members can apply for tickets to the Wimbledon Championships each year.

On Monday 17th November all are welcome to stay for a soup and cheese lunch in the Pavilion after tennis at 12 noon. Just give Sylvia Corbett, Linda Hall or Mary Broughton a ring or email them to let them know. Alternatively just turn up with a plate of something to share!

That morning will be an open morning, so anyone - of any standard - who would like come along and play would be most welcome (10 am to 12 noon).

OPEN MORNINGS

First Saturday of every month.

Everyone welcome to come and play - just turn up!

LTA CLUBMARK ACCREDITATION

WTC has been granted the Lawn Tennis Association's Tennis Clubmark accreditation. Within Surrey, we are only the second club - and the first small club - to gain this award.

Tennis Clubmark is awarded by the LTA to recognise the achievement of excellent standards in club tennis.

In announcing the award, Richard Shepherd - LTA Development Officer for Surrey - said that, by achieving accreditation, clubs show their commitment to tennis development and coaching and are able reassure all new and existing members that they have a structured approach to child protection, equity and good club management.

WTC's Mary Broughton said "We are delighted to have completed Clubmark and have found the process really useful in helping to develop both the club and the coaching programme."
